[edit] am i cheeting?

the sound is sooo good... i feel like im cheeting on my ipod.

[edit] 100.3 is "cheating" on us!

100.3 is better than the other L.A. "rock" Stations, BUT THAT AIN'T SAYIN A LOT now is it? Seems the Sky can and "should" be the limit according to 100.3 promo's: The songs between the hits”? "Deeper rock", "b-sides" “All about the music" "World Class Rock"? COME ON 100.3 Don't Settle w/ "barely' above the bar. It's an insult to the true music fans. How dare you make these promo claims then play the same songs that we can hear any day on KLOS (Now that s/b an insult to 100.3) The bands you play are fine, but for the most part, the song selection is WEAK, PREDICTABLE, REPETITIVE, REDUNDANT (I know, means same. That's My point against 100.3 playlist) UNIMAGINATIVE, NON-THOUGHT PROVOKING, BORING, DISCOURAGING etc. Sw Home A'bama, We w/ rock u, Fly like eagle, Start me up, blk mgc woman, Money (P Fld), rebel yell, shake it up, use somebody, rock th casbah, walk this way, Jump (VH), wild nites (J Cgr), beatles beatles beatles! YOU CAN DO SO MUCH BETTER, EASILY. Maybe the KMET Friday spoiled me what good real rock radio should be. At least JACK-FM doesnt take it self as seriously as you do.

[edit] Remembering Rick Wright

As a diehard Pink Floyd fan for the last 34 years it is with deep sadness and a heavy heart that I have to announce that one year ago today, September 15, 2008, founding member of Pink Floyd and keyboardist Rick Wright died at the age of 65 of cancer. I was heartbroken when I found out last November since it was treated unfairly as a small news story. It occurred to me that there might be Pink Floyd fans today who still do not know that Rick Wright passed away last Sept. 15th. Growing up I was a huge progrock fan, I listened in my teenage years to bands like ELP, Pink Floyd, Yes, Genesis and King Crimson. Rick Wright never got I felt was his due as one of the great keyboardists of our time. Where he wasn't as wild or famous as his counterparts, Keith Emerson of ELP and Rick Wakeman of Yes and he might not have had the finger dexterity of Emerson, Wakeman or Tony Banks of Genesis, where Rick Wright excelled was in creating atmosphere, mood and textures to his keyboarding. He had the tremendous responsibilty of putting first Syd Barrett's mad lyrics into keyboarding that suited the insane lyrics, but he then had to put Roger Waters' often equally as mad, angry, sarcastic and caustic lyrics into a keyboard sound. Who could forget the "cold steel breeze" sound Wright performed during "Shine on You Crazy Diamond" Pt. 1 or the flute like solo during pt.1 or during the closing of Pt. 2. Also classic was his cold mechanical "whomp whomp whomp" throbbing sound in "Welcome To The Machine". Although by the time "Animals" cam out his influence in the band was almost gone, he did an amazing job with his synth washes on "Dogs" and who could forget and not get nightmares with that almost "Twilight Zone" sounding organ playing he did on"Pigs". "The Wall" would also have been nowhere as good with Rick Wright on keyboards where he played some of his most ominous keyboarding to date. If your not familiar with early Pink Floyd, i.e before "Dark Side OF The Moon, I urge you to seek out the "Meddle" album to hear the side long track "Echoes" to hear Rick Wright and David Gilmour's absolutelty terrifying and eerie sounds they come up in the centerpiece musical interlude. Also worth seeking out is the obscure(no pun intended) Pink Floyd soundtrack to a film called "Obscured By Clouds". Rick Wright is absolutely brilliant on the opening title track with some of the most threatening dark wooooom! wooooom! reving engine from hell sounds I have ever heard. You will also want to seek out "Ummagumma" to hear Rick Wright's classic track "Sysphus" Of course Rick is best known for his contributions on "Dark Side of The Moon" with great piano playing On "The Great Gig In The Sky" which he wrote and "Us And Them" which he co-wrote with Roger Waters. Now Rick you are truly playing in that Great Gig In The Sky and I just wanted to thank you for 40 years of entertainment. I had the privelege of seeing Pink Floyd 3 times. The first was my first concert ever on July 2, 1977 for the Animals tour. I saw Pink Floyd a second time at the Nassau Colesium in February 1980 to see The Wall performed and saw them onelast time in September 1987 at The Carrier Dome in Syracuse. R.I.P. Rick Wright. You will be truly missed.

[edit] [Word Removed]Good Music

Hey there, I meant to reply about 3 weeks back reagarding the '10 at 10' (pm) edition one eve when ya did 1988... Very cool choice and really made my evening hearing such great tunes from that year: particularly Robert Plant's Heaven Knows, and especially a complete gem by David Lee Roth that I (and most everyone) seem to have somehow forgotten from the Skyscraper album, '[Word Removed]Good Times'... clearly his best solo jam of them all which certainly deserves more airplay, especially on your station in the deeper rock category. Sincerely, Glenn in WestLA
