The Sound's Andy Chanley remembers the events that shaped this day in rock history.

Things you probably didn't know: If they all had lived, The Beatles would have reunited in recent years. The Rolling Stones were nearly crushed in Long Beach. Neil Young formed Bachman-Turner Overdrive. Don't believe it? Watch the video.

Dire Straits is the band that goes LIVE@5 today. Here's an awesome version of "Calling Elvis." Nice headband, Knopfler!

Jeff Beck'll be backing up Mick Jagger, along with Foo Fighters and Arcade Fire, on this weekend's SNL season finale and he was my iPod artist this morning. I played an instrumental that also features Jimmy Page, John Paul Jones, Nicky Hopkins and Keith Moon on drums. btw, Keith disguised himself as he headed to the studio so no one would know he was recording with a band other than The Who! Both Jeff and Jimmy say they wrote the song, although Jimmy did get the official writing credit. But I think we all associate it with Jeff, since it's called "Beck's Bolero"... click More to listen...

Ron Irwin: Sometimes, you know the moment you enter the theatre, before the show begins that this show is going to be amazing. There are clues like a backdrop of 144 LP (long playing) records. Yes, I actually did count them. And then there is the buzz from the people around you which in my case included one of the song writers. And then there was the brief preshow introduction by the show's creators, Theresa Chavez, Louis Perez and Rose Portillo and I felt strongly that this was going to be one truly heart pounding totally enjoyable super show.

Steve Barton was in a Beatles tribute band when he was a teenager... got the gig after an audition at the L.A. Musicians Contact Service, where they were looking for a "George". So he walks in and the guy says "Sing!" so he starts with "Something in the way... " and he was told "Good! You're hired!" And he and the band hit the high school auditorium and theme park tour circuit. Cut to the early 80's, after Steve forms a band called Translator... he's living in a house in Echo Park, listening to Beatles records and Iggy Pop's "Lust For Life" and he comes up with "Everywhere That I'm Not"... click More to check it out...

It seems that every day new Beatles-oriented artifacts are up for auction. It was just last year John Lennon's toilet, tooth and other items sold for tens of thousands of dollars. Want your piece of Beatles history? Read on...
